Richard Durham's DESTINATION FREEDOM Is A Treasure Trove Ahead Of Its TIME!

ANNIVERSARY TODAY:

Martin Luther King, Jr. was born today in 1929. (died April 4, 1968)

*****

As I was looking at the calendar and thinking of Dr. King 's birthday (which is today though it is celebrated on Monday), I came across a treasure trove of recordings of Richard Durham's radio show Destination Freedom. The programs written by Durham from 1948 to 1950 offer important and relevant stories of value to all oppressed people throughout the world struggling to find freedom and live free. Indeed they were ahead of their time!

I can say many things about Destination Freedom and Durham's writing; but simply put, it is daringly inventive and amazingly powerful some sixty years later. So few people are familiar with these gems...perhaps in part due to the fact that it was broadcast only on a local NBC station in Chicago, and also due to its radical ideas for its time.

You can find many episodes at http://www.archive.org/
