Actress Elizabeth Wilson offered a significant amount of assistance in making my biography of Shirley Booth a reality. It was Liz who knew Shirley Booth quite well at the time she starred in the Broadway show The Desk Set. The show ran from October 24, 1955 to July 5, 1956 with a total of 297 performances. It comes in sixth place out of thirty-one Broadway shows for Shirley.

And it is Liz Wilson best described Shirley Booth as a person who "wanted to be treated as a human being, she didn't want to be treated as an actress." Elizabeth learned this from her frequent dinners, benefits, and trips to the movies she shared with Shirley.

Unfortunately, the beautiful friendship between the two came to a sudden and surprising halt. You can read the whole story of what happened in my biography of Shirley.

Liz would work with Shirley later on one more time several years later in a live television production of The United States Steel Hour entitled "Welcome Home." But the friendship was sadly no more.

Nevertheless, Liz always, underline always, said positive things about Shirley. She concluded, "I think all the actors who worked with her adored and worshipped her. Really! All the time recognizing the pain, the bittersweet fragile soul that she was."
