HAZEL SAYS Is A New Feature Of My Shirley Booth BLOG!

You may have noticed a new regular feature in my blog posts - a quote from Shirley Booth as Hazel. I have been offering a specific quote from Hazel for the last few weeks. I hope readers find it an enjoyable addition to my posts. Here's two more:
Hazel says:

In episode #151 ("Bee in Her Bonnet'), Hazel caters to a man that said he got forced off the road by someone. Before Hazel realizes that the "accident" was with Steve Baxter, she tells him about her friend who got a new car from a lawsuit. Hazel says, "She wasn't hurt as bad as she claimed...she claimed the accident left her with dizzy spells. The truth was she was born dizzy."

Hazel says:

In episode #153 ("A Little Bit of Genius"), Hazel says: "It seems to me that the only space that needs conquering is between people...Smart people got to live in the same world with people who ain't so smart. Boy, if the kids today don't start helping each other, we won't have much of a world to look forward to!"

In 1910, Shirley Booth began acting at 12 years old in a play called "Mother Carey's Chickens." Her first appearance on Broadway occurred in "Hells Bells" in 1925. She received her first Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress in "Goodbye, My Fancy" in 1949. Her second Tony Award was for Best Actress in "Come Back, Little Sheba" (1950). "The Time of the Cuckoo"(1953) earned her a third Tony Award, the second one for Best Actress.

She reached the pinnacle as far as awards with her first film, Come Back Little Sheba. That production presented her with many awards, including an Oscar, Golden Globe, New York Film Critics Circle, National Board of Review, Cannes, BAFTA, etc.

For complete details on these and the many other awards she received, see my biography.

A clip from a newspaper, circa 1951 noted:
At Dubrow's they were talking about Oscar-winning Shirley Booth. "It's amazing," one diner observed, "that it took her 25 years to become a star." "So what," countered Joyce Bryant, "it takes some stars longer than that to become actors!"
